Getting Color of the Screen in Ubuntu

Is it possible to get the current color of the current开发者_运维百科 screen on an Ubuntu 10.04 desktop?

I would open the background image in The Gimp (image editor. install with 'sudo apt-get install gimp') and use the dropper to select the color on the specific point. That will give you the RGB value of the color at that point

Another solution would be to use an eyedropper tool such as gcolor2 which you can install using apt-get or aptitude.
