You could visit the "All in one page" version of the cookbook and print it as PDF.

Here is good collection of advanced tips for the expert level once you get there and it is a free pdf download. It's better than any cake book i have paid for.

In my opinion the CakePHP bakery is a terrible source of information for beginners and experts. The quality of the articles posted there is subpar.

The Cookbook is good and reasonably complete, although it is a manual and didactically not ideal. I would suggest that you buy one of the excellent CakePHP books to dive in - that will be the most effective way to get a complete picture of the CakePHP world.
