Ideas to visualize confidence intervals with multiple lineplots and avoiding confusion
I created a dashboard containing the lineplots of forecast for similar (own + competition) products, which is used by 开发者_运维技巧sales people in order to plan their forecasts. The forecasts come with a level of precision. On average there are 8-10 lineplots for each diagram. I would like to visualize the uncertinty intervals as well (to let them know about the scale of uncertainty of different forecasts), but the graph gets very confusing. Do you have any ideas/good practice on how could I visualize uncertainty of multiple lineplots without creating confusion because of too many expanding uncertainty intervals? Thank you!
Here are some ideas.
Use transparency and/or different colors for each lineplot to help the differentiate between them.
Use a band plot to show the uncertainty intervals (uncertainty interval is shown as a band around the lineplot)
A violin plot, which shows the distribution of values for each lineplot.
