How does the loop work in this script to create xxx_Audit table?

I got this script from here.

I'm probably staring right at it but I can't see how the WHILE loop works - specifically, how does it accomplish looping through all the columns in the info table? I see there is logic to stop the loop, but I don't see anything that looks to be an index/counter... is it doing some kind of recursion?

how does it accomplish looping through all the columns in the info table?

Each iteration, it selects the first column (top 1) that's bigger (order by clmns.column_id) than the one it got from the last iteration (where clmns.column_id > @COLUMNID):

SELECT top 1 @COLUMNID=clmns.column_id
...
WHERE clmns.column_id > @COLUMNID
ORDER BY
       clmns.column_id asc
0
